Ready for the session? Please take a look at the following information.
Rule No. 1Always bring us files, or reels of tape, that are the best possible quality you have, the ones that are the closest versions to the source that you have.
Your MastersWe routinely work with the following formats:
Analog: One inch, Half inch, Quarter inch. All speeds. Any noise reduction (or none.)
Digital: DAT (16 and 24 bit), Audio CD, Data Files (AIF, WAV, SDll etc.), Tascam DA88/38/78/98, other digital formats by prior arrangement
Sample rate issuesIf you are starting a new project in the digital domain, it makes a lot of sense to choose 44.1kHz as the sample rate (over 48kHz). The reason for this is that the CD format calls for the sample rate to be 44.1kHz only. If your sample rate is anything other than 44.1kHz it will have to undergo a sample rate conversion and this process usually degrades the program and is therefore to be avoided. If your project is already sampled at 48kHz just go ahead and bring it to us that way. We have the tools to accomplish the conversion in the best possble way.
If you are considering doing your project at one of the higher sample rates (88.2, 96, 176.4, 192) we encourage you to do so. We hear a big improvement in the sound, even though it will wind up at 44.1/16 on the CD release. And of course we are fully equipped to work with your music at hi-resolution.
SequencingBe sure of the song order
before you come in. This will save you time and money.
